2014 marks the tenth anniversary of Killasonna Lodge. That is, we completed construction in 2004. In that 10 year span we have never spent a full week at Killasonna Lodge. Not off season and certainly not during summer, our rental season. This year, to celebrate, we reserved a week for ourselves. Our friends Anne and Tobey joined us for four days, beginning July 26th. Diane, Troy and the grandkids stayed the remaining nights. As it turns out, we didn’t stay a week after all. Hmm. But not to worry, we’re spending many weeks here off season.
Poached eggs with whitefish cakes at Town Hall Bakery, served with potatoes, fruit and limpa bread toast. Limpa, in case you are not familiar with it, is a Swedish bread made with rye flour.
Town Hall Bakery, in our opinion, serves the best breakfast in Door County. Hands down.

Tobey looks for that perfect book at Untitled, a used book store on 3rd Street in Sturgeon Bay. The owner mimics the decor and ambiance of the now gone Bookman’s Alley Bookstore in Evanston, IL. He admitted as much and knows Howard, the now retired owner of Bookman’s Alley.
